Revisiting, the necessary precautions, especially for some of you who work

It's been almost 2 months since I wrote this note on My Facebook Notes and been noticing updates on this matter since then. Somewhat I get a sense that the concern only goes to those in Europe and US, not here. At least that's what the media here portrayed, or chose to portray. but I can't let myself be swayed on this. I was somewhat urged to stand on neither sides of the stories, as it may come gradually, systematically, or unexpectedly. One thing, the spending here hasn't change, which somewhat speaks greater volume on how I see this will eventually come, and that the market is highly reluctant to any  news on how the resolution will be carried out, and somewhat bailouts are more favorable than any austerity measure. to the market that is.

Anyway, here's what I wrote then (originally posted on September 22)

This economic grim somehow may spread over to other sectors in matter of months. Somehow there has been efforts to undertone the likelihood of our economy to face any crisis. But, honestly, looking at how we spend our income and what we spent it on, I reckon we will start looking at a downturn soon. Productivity somehow relates close to spending here. Blame on the lifestyle that's been endorsed by the people themselves. As there will be lower absorption on products worldwide, I'm not sure at how well we could rely on our own people's money to buy those products. Not to mention, a heavy reliance on imports these days.

Remember, eastern part is undergoing a water crisis due to prolonged drought. that means corps failure. But looking at how some portions of well-off society spending half, one or two millions for personal entertainment, means a gap in the mind, means potential psychological warfare amongst us. Not to mention the ongoing distrust towards the performance of some supposedly anti-corruption body, as well as towards leadership issues of the central government.

What fueled the riots in 1998 ? didnt you see it now? Back then feels like we were on track on 5-yearly development growth. But what happened then? A prolonged drought of belief and dissatisfaction towards leadership wasn't it? I wonder why the youngsters didnt react the same way now... but wait, try shutting your TV down, turn off you social media, stop listening to music and start looking around, what would you see? I see glimpse of unspoken anxiety covered with high pitched laughter, yet somehow the uncertainty is clear.

Have you seen anybody that fits the picture to be the next president in this country? Or should I change the question, will any characteristics of any ideal president that you want still pose any great meaning to your life, so to speak? Or such only were good words that we dont see any relevance to our daily life, which is running on lacking of more, thus the inability to comprehend any virtues that's going on.

Now the question. If we, the society, are in heavy reliance on entertainment, I mean the purchased ones, will you then be willing to reduce and donate some portion of it to our fellow people in crisis? Or that is perceived as affecting your life in some ways, that you'd procrastinate and wait for others to do first? I hope you won't. Back then, the crisis was aimed towards some well-off society, but now you're the well-off ones, do you then realise of what's coming? This understanding happened as I started cutting my entertainment cost, and paying close attention to local media and looking into what's been seen as attractive, and yet I see some parts of our society that are still left marginalised. Hence I'm not sure that we learned enough of how the western role model have been doing by cultivating the minds of the people. Look at austerity measures taken in greece and ireland that created havoc. Despite the very logical reasoning behind the measures --cutting on spending to reduce debt is very logical, right?-- but looking at how their people reacted felt somehow it is not logic...wonder why? me too.

Now reflect on us. Are we ready to do such measure? it sounds scary right? But there is no better time for you to take a preacution than now, as we're still in a relatively safe period, and that you still receive your salary each month. Please make sure that you have enough in reserve for months as you'll never know how this situation will turn out to be. Save your income for a better use, or find other alternatives for spending / investing.

This is only a ponder. No other means intended.

Try Understanding Disaster as A Form of Communication

Studying communication somewhat has an affect on how I see things in life, especially the coincidences that made me think. Are they merely coincidental or meant to mean somethingelse ? (read : some form of communication). I reckon the former is usually perceived as having better implications on both personally and socially... as we tend to avoid any heavy thinking, and socially a person who thinks less complicatedly is somewhat more acceptable , right? If later is the choice, we'll usually hear "come on! don't think too much"... thus it gained its logical inference through the society, so to speak.

Communication is basically defined as getting your meaning to be understood by who you're saying (doing) it to. the bracketed word refers to the non-verbal type of communication that is somewhat hard to understand, but tend to repeat if it's poorly understood. Sometimes to avoid any miscommunication we choose to ignore it, and expect a clearer verbally articulated type of communication (read : we expect people to say it or just write it or at least spell it).

But what if, the expectation will never be met? i.e. the part who's conveyung something to you is unable (this word is purposely used to differentiate with the word 'disabled') to fulfil your wish due to undisclosed reason. Will you then initiatively try finding a way to understand it? or still expect it to be conveyed in the means that you normally use? or even try to avoid and finding a way to exit (the communication) ? ... then maybe it'll depend on how relevant it is to you. the more you need it, the more you likely try to understand it.

But... in communication we also learned the concept of 'salience'. it's not 'silence', or 'science' ...it's salience. it is about how easy you could access your own mind of a certain memory. the higher the salience, the easier it is for you to notice, thus you remembered it. but to know a salience(y) of a certain memory is based on how much trigger is needed for you to remember it, meaning the harder it is to remind you of a certain thing, the lesser the salience of that thing in your mind. at least that's how i understand it. please correct me if i'm wrong.

Therefore, those with past traumas are more likely to be easily reminded about the meaning of that disaster to him/her. but sometimes the outcome varied to different people in different occasion. some take pride in witnessing one, some was amazed in experiencing it, some thrilled to have more, some move on and ignore, but some are deeply fall in consciousness trying to understand of what happened. but what is the correct response? some disasters somehow understood differently by different people and everyone is entitled to make meaning of it. but what is IT?

If you notice, no great civilization survives back then. The powerful Egypt was destroyed by drought and locust, unexpectedly the rich and lavish kingdom is tackled ironically by famine and disease.

Within our land, in Pulau Jawa, lays the Great Candi Borobudur which in fact was in ruin when it was found. In Wiki it was said that even the name was given by the founder Sir Stamford Raffles. No inscription pointing any hint on what's the real name of that place, or was it even a temple back then. No one survived to tell the story of the beautiful building. Wonder why? Nobody knows. Most information regarding the building was all based on latter-made theories. this building was said to have stood on what once a lake (much like Angkor Wat then) and built on a bedrock of a hill. There was a village nearby named Boro , thus the name Borobudur. follow this link for more http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borobudur

Search on how the pyramid was found. It was re-discovered too.

Why now? Why only recently it is discovered? Interestingly, why suddenly the high interest of such buildings when in fact it was abandoned by the people before us back then? it's even capable of drawing people from around the world. A mere sightseeing? Probably some would answer, it is the effect of advertising and the rise of travel industry. But then, it is as if the industry created the object, while it has stood there thousands of year ago. Had the interests remained high, someone would've passed the story for generations and stood to defend it, and we don't need archaeologists to explain.

Now back to how our mind works. Coincidently this phenomenon coincide with disastrous events that's been happening recently. I'm poised to think that the timing isn't coincidence, it is made so, so that we think of something. I bet you know what I'm thinking. And I'm just gonna let you be you, making meaning of these series of events yourself.

And, in the basic model of communication, as response/feedback isn't as what expected by the sender, usually the message will be repeated. the harder you get the message, the harder the next message will get to you. I suggest , take initiative to think about what have happened.

But then, this is just a ponder, no other means intended. In God All Knowledge Resides.

A Light on Uncle Sam's Plight

(from My Facebook Notes originally posted on Oct 14 2011)

A salute to this politician who's been speaking consistently for over 30 years, who's been neglected by the media, who's gained alot of criticism for being outspoken and for speaking the truth even by his own fellow partisan. Who's now gained alot of attention, as some of his earlier speech, some made decades ago, were recently proven to be right. Imagine, 30+ years to be finally heard. and yet still some denied and felt discontent about him receiving supports from people of all walks of life, as they're afraid, that everything will never be the same, for them including the mainstream media who's been backed by big corporations, which will somehow be affected by This Man's consistent proposal : To End The Fed, The culprit of recurring crisis(es) in his country. Will he be the real agent of change? He seems perfectly right, but then Who has the Might to really end a plight?

Predation is what human now be, when faced by any possible austerity, rolling an authority down has now become somewhat easy, this had actually been shown by his country's past history. of a man by the name Kennedy. But then age is what future holds, a year or two or even three folds, we never know until it unfolds. this man has somewhat perceived as being too old. Yet, again, Who Owns the right to end a plight? a plight that ends their very own right. A plight that started with human greed, a misconception of what often called as being succeed.

Somehow I remember one of my post on my age-old blog (posted on Nov 25 2005), concerning at how some people could not understand at how the basic law of supply and demand works, during the Intro to Econ class back in M'sia. The law indicates that demand raises as the price lowered hence supply reduces, and supply raises as the price hightened hence demand will get lower. This law might be perceived as natural, as it includes innate human greed in its conception if you notice. the producer would want more profit, the consumer would want more to be consumed. which inherently indicates they have never satisfied with whatever their condition is, that holding up goods is natural, that consuming more is also natural. in a different context, this shows that there are actually inaccessibilities to goods due to price within the society that needs to be addressed. so when the price hiked, demands would remain, as the rich sincerely buy more and give to the poor.

But then how ideal will this be, when all in TV, reminds you of what you could be. the picture might be right, but then it's all merely pleasant to the sight. Teary eyes , laughing cries, together you might see, a condescending ideality. but how would you know, that you've had your part, that what you didnt sow will bring you apart. that all this while you've been nothing but a spectacle to an ideality, brought forth with unprecedented superiority.

then again this is another ponder, no other means intended.
