Do Feel Learn

this is a consumer process of which many marketing strategies has been designed, to cultivate adoption for supposedly low involvement products

Somehow this theory sounds applicable for how you should do religious responsibilities. 'Just Do It' as what Nike used to say. However, one should note that the immediacy of each step to occur consecutively after the previous, might probably differ on each person. Hence, probably the value of patience and preservation are also required  as part of the observance, as the overall virtue of every religious accounts will resonate best in this ideal condition. Thus faith should go directly towards the Order, as the source of All, including ordeals, happiness, and our presence. Hence the 'Do' should be consciously done to fulfil the Order, that ideally to do so one should require less consideration, or avert from any form of dissonance after knowing the order.

Then, it tickles me to understand how this would relate to the low involvement nature of the theory? the answer probably due to the nature of any human's real authorities themselves, who has little whatsoever power to even cause effect in their own life. that even rezeki is predetermined, that even appearance was not within parents' consent, that the course of ones lives had undergone places that they never expected before. That eventually the ideal condition to do/be is 'Surrender' which somewhat implies that no one had no whatsoever significance, thus the low involvement. Therefore might be the saying All Praise Be To God (Alhamdulillah),is highly advised anytime ones poised to put ownselves in somewhat significant position after doing meaningful things to others.

Yet, if we notice, the 'what to learn' part had also been revealed along with the 'requirements'. What's needed now is conscience to look out for them, and to find relevance amongst them, through reflections of own's experiences. Hence one would feel some degrees of righteousness. Hence ones will learn its rightful nature. Insya Allah.

Again this is only a ponder

Now that I'm Here, What have I done, and What's Next

Coming to this day, I realized how tarnished the ability to speak in this language has been. Somewhat, journey-wise, as the mind travels through time, some parts lost and some remains. And that the fluency has somewhat stuttered, lost in translation. That also, traveller's-wise, I have unconsciously allowed back little by little old habits that had actually been overcome. And so much about everything that leads to today that flashed back old memories, of coincidences, of hardships, of courage and discourage that somehow should be valued more today, to help facing tomorrow. Or should I just not share it here. Anyway, again coincidences, again found some relevance (at this early stage), and again I seek meaning to it. Bismillah. Hopefully this meant something.

Have you noticed the proximity?

What started off in Tunisia, had spread eastward to Egypt, Yaman, Iran, Bahrain, and later closer to the land of origin, Libya. Similar problem, overly extended political regime. But, what exactly the underlying issues? Some of the countries involved are oil-rich countries which has years of oil reserves. Does poverty and increased food price has to do with it? I just couldn’t believe it.

If the unrest was the result of oppression, Surely some would escape the mainstream media, especially the western, considering the sentiment built over years towards the middle east.
Somehow people reacts similarly towards the fact that their leaders had been around long enough to agonize the people’s sanity, which led to the stress of everyday living which was then doubled with the worsening economic conditions. Or, that they have lived so comfortably that their trust towards the government had been easily influenced through state media by not showing the bad news. hence when reality started to strike the homes of middle-income, well educated families, they reacts the way they see fit to overturn the condition, which is through strikes, which consequences were less likely considered.

Some think that the problem is in the monarch system, that democracy was more favourable. but other monarchs were fine. our closest neighbour still maintain the monarchy and they seem fruitful from the order. Britain is fine. The Saudis are fine. Jogjakarta is fine too. Some supposedly democratic countries are in turn fail to give the poeple what they want, giving the unhappy faces.

Is the leadership void from everyday lives of the people, in such a way that the people felt they have been dealing with their problems themselves? are presence the underlying issues?
Still Im not assured. somehow I feel that this is what the promise was. that one day history will repeat itself and someone will emerge to bring the answer.

Feb.19.2011 / 2am

an issue of difference

Feb 14, 2008 (1:51am) Now I know how people could differ to such extent that each lives facing certain directions that may push against each other or pull each other away. i imagine a humongous extensive field that could be filled with any possible thought that all generations could think or believe, and two 150deg-vision front-eyed men facing directions far ahead which symbolizes all thoughts and belief that he may think (if he constantly facing that direction).
to be cont..

Jan 26, 2011... and usually conflict starts when a person’s view intersects with other and the force within themselves tell the other to turn their body and look on the things their looking at, in a way, facing the direction as he himself likes it to be seen.

But then again it just show how we have incapacitated others by doing so, when infact, or most probably, the objects within our vision was part of a greater system that was not meant to be seen with such narrow perspective. had we not learnt that rock is a liveless thing, we would have been managing its sustenance just like other forms of creature, as we would have known the balance it has been providing to the earth.

how human differ to each other may rooted to what they see since the beginning of their lives, and which route they have been taking to adjourn. and therefore, ideally, within a peaceful heart a man should not argue, but instead, listen.

The Universal ZOOMABILITY

It seems that this world is at many level of zoom-ability. You can downgrade the smallest thing to the second smallest thing…

—but sometimes we forgot to enclose it with ‘according to human recorded achievements’, or in ‘history’ as for we mention this kind of ‘purposive self-claimed superlative discovery’, thus somehow we ignored its true realm—

Imagine if an atomic structure resembles the celestial structure. Earth would merely be a particle revolving around the core, the sun. Compared to Earth, we’re only small little creatures wandering around its surface who inhabited only parts of its land.
Now the question: Which would it be to an atom?

But yet, somehow, we have been affecting the earth with many human errors, which took us thousands of years of civilizations. Be reminded about how small Earth is compared to universe.
Or was it all just exaggeration? Human should be responsible to what they’ve done, and effect hadn’t actually caused by the crime. I mean if it’s not Allowed, It wouldn’t have happened right?
Magnificent this universe is by still being the untouchable even with several million times of magnification.

Oct.23.2008 / 7am

things that were just left hanging in my brain - and some stuff i browsed lately

the stories I've been watching lately

1. the large hadron collider and its capability to smash particles into its constituents :the quarks and leptons and so on, and anti matter which is feared to act as a black hole in our universe.

2. The quarks and the realitivity of the presence of elctrons and protons in an atom. and what consitutes it.

3. The Black hole, the variety and its signs that sets apart from other cosmic obejcts. recently found that it appears not only in stellar form (smaller) and supermassive (centre of a galaxy) but also in various sizes at surprisingly unexpected places trhough out a galaxy. stellar black hole means a star that has lost its energy due to constant burning will submit to its own gravitational pull and suck up its mass and the things around it. at certain point it spews out the electrons perpendicularly to the disk shape rotation, creating a shot. any other objects on its way can be effected as what he recent NASA photo found. two close black hole bearing galaxies spewed over electrons jets from its companion.
to add: perpendicular to our solar system is the closest star Alpha Centauri.

4. There is a story inspired by sumeritans regarding the newly found solar object (NASA: Eris, myths: Nibiru) that will re-appear close to earth on 2012 as what the sumeritans been warned 4800 years BC. its appearence will be once in every some what thousands of years and believed to have effected the earth. it is said that its oval shaped orbit is wide enough to ‘visit’ every planet in the solar system and also the sun, thus people called it the crosser planet. if eventually its getting too close to the earth, due to its massive gravitational pull, when it passes over, it’ll pull the earths gravity and cause the earth to still for few days and strong enough to tilt earth’s axis to 90 degres, and thus created natural disasters bigger than every other human have witnessed. after that it’ll leave chaotic earth histerically.

this coincide with what i’ve been told regarding the signs of the last days that, there will be nights as long as 3 nights, and the sun will rise from the west. (or the other way around) from this point onward human repentance is void.

the time 2012 came from an ancient prediction thus i dont believe it. this only sparks curiosity of possible ways of how the Signs will finally come to reality.
and it seems the organization that beleive in the date so much made a website (www.decemver212012.com) on it and based on preditions obviously would have not pose any clear and convincing facts about the event, but only distortions of a prediction.

————————————————————-
oo and… this just keep my curiosity up…
The little Prophet Yousoff told his fatherProphet Ya’cob AS that 11 stars, the moon and the sun prostrated unto him in his dream.
If man’s prostration is marked by a gesture shown during sujud in salaat. what did the prophet AS see in his dream?

PLANTS KNEW MORE THAN WE THOUGHT THEY DO

Few days ago I watched Mythbusters episode on myths around organisms. Of some episodes that I've watched, this one is the most stunning, and thrilling. The team were faced by a theory that living organisms are somewhat interconnected (if I'm not mistaken).Humans are interconnected as we’re reacting toward each other, and so do animals. what about other living organisms? to answer this they use a polygraph similar to a lie detector to proof it with an analogy that if somehow living organisms do have reaction towards a stimulation faced/provided by other organism (in this case: harm), the polygraph would react. Firstly they experimented on a plant and then leukocyte (white blood cell), and lastly on bacteria in a yoghurt.

Although from the last two objects they experimented on, they didnt find satisfiying answer (on they’re understanding of what may explains interconnected organisms; owner’s leucocyte didnt react when the owner’s is electricuted, and bacteria-ful yoghurt also didnt react when it’s poured with hot water), –and overall they call it busted– the result of the first experiment is the one that captured most of my attention.

who knows something that’s been quiet most of the time -well, all time- can actually react instantly on a stimulation, quietly. Believe it or not, plants invisibly react when they’re harmed and shockingly..they do know when human is about to harm them. the polygraph pen pulsed when Tory (the scientist-co hosting the show) from afar concentrated his mind to hurt the contained plant without even physically touching it.

Although overall they called it BUSTED, Should this particular inspiring-phenomenon answer other questions?

Should this lead to a new understanding of plants? of organisms? of something beyond physical organisms? of dead organs?

At this point, I suspect that something could explain it all—i’m thinking of the right word to explain ‘nyawa’ in english, it’s not a ‘chance for living’ as what LIFE (the usual translation for nyawa) implies, but it is more of a sole object, that is in an object by itself that are contained by the organisms (set of organs) that makes them alive, in arabic it’s called ‘RUH’. I somehow feel that only organisms with ‘Nyawa’ is eligible for this experiment, thus parts of organisms, or simply ‘moving’ organisms should be considered as somethingelse. something that is not ‘bernyawa’.

Should there be another criteria of classification other than what science has described till today. or even more fundamentally questioning wether it should be classification or stratification of creature–what a creature have that others don’t,thus the more they have the higher their level is, the least their potential, the lower their position is. What other thing that science has been failing to see, to proof.

——————————————–anyway————————————–
Knowing that plants do get hurt, you probably need to reconsider some reasons when you stomp on grass, when you cut twigs off branches, when you pulled away petals of roses, when you throw away a bouquet of flowers, when you chainsawed a tree, when you burn off a forest. When we have the least conscience that it might hurt. when in some cases it’s merely casual, unintentional.

Also, probably by now people who call themselves vegetarian due to animal’s right violation should find other reason to eat plant-related-produce, because plants react on harm as animals do. what differentiates the two is, that most plants do not show their reaction when it’s harmed, or should we say, all these while we never knew how to comprehend their reaction as how we hear, or see, or feel animal’s reaction when they’re hurt.

Thus the problem was not on killing organisms for food, it’s about the intention when you’re taking their lives. in this case, animal’s right is right to certain extent, that killing them to fulfill you’re instinct of killing is wrong, but slaughtering them for surviving is right. Slaughtering by intentionally hurting is wrong, slaughtering with a consideration for immediate dying is right. Thus how far should we call Animal’s RIGHT as right, as we are us, not them. and we previously failed to describe our fellow plants’ rights and led ourselves across the line–if there should’ve been plant’s rights. How right is human’s RIGHT if apparently the right thing to do is about the intention. not what the RIGHTS have authorized.

Enquire more of what other thing that are considered as LIVING THINGS and to what extent today’s science have classified that something is truly not living. Well plants are considered organism due to the ‘growing’ feature, but never solely to its ability of immediate reaction. what about those that loose from our sight, due to its vastness, speed and incomparability to human. Something’s that is too big or too small, too fast or too slow, too complicated or simply too simple. What about earth?

Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporations, business corporations, are getting more aware of what the society wants them to be. Not only gaining wealth from them, but also giving back to them. In a way, this should balance the economic gap between the corporations and the society. As the corporations are getting richer, the society feels their richness cause good effect on them too.

However, not all corporations have their efforts on this things, especially here. This may be due to some incapabilities in budget to make it, or to buy space for exposure in media, thus we don’t hear those except big corporations hold charity events although they have done it.

In current day’s Corporate Social Responsibility, things they usually do are those of donations on education, orphanage houses, the less fortunates, disaster victims, some may hold environmental and social awareness campaigns, supporting nationalism and so forth. Thus Corporate Social Responsibility is showing corporation’s responsibility using its power of wealth on helping the society’s betterment. in this case corporations plays itself as part of the society with an abundant of wealth or simply part of the society.

Let’s look from a different angle. If we think of it, the term itself may imply on totally different story if we define it this way: Corporate Social Responsibility is Corporations responsibility on how they make use of the Society to gain their wealth. Thus their responsibility rely on how they affect the society by what they do to gain their income. This should include,
1. Effect of their product ; on Environment, Health, and Wellbeing,
2. Effect of their policies; on Price, Salary, and Macro economy
3. Effect of their Promotional and Publicity; on Moral, Conduciveness, and Stability
4. And, Effect of their Existence; this covers other points of positive or negative outcomes on what the corporations have created by simply existing.
Therefore,in this case, Corporations plays it self as entities with power of wealth who is responsible on the society by how they gain their wealth from the society and imply their power upon.

Anyhow, which one is which, which ever you think is which. Ideally, the form of Corporate Social Responsibility should include all of the above, corporations should play as social entities which somehow posses the ability to affect the society, and they should put the society forefront before they enact their corporate interests. thus their responsibility is accounted as socially responsible.

I Remember Once I was Asked

I remembered Once I was Asked: If you get a chance to do UMRA which pack of offer would you prefer?

I somehow realize that i might be falling into the stereotype consumerism of the Hajj and Umra industry nowadays, by replying ‘ i want the ones with traveling agenda afterwards’, To concern the shouldn’t be concerned about. To put forth somethingelse in line with fulfilling the obligatory command. Expectation vs Intention. Astaghfirullahalazim.

Often in newspaper you see on the classified ads section, Hajj and Umra travel agency put list of packages offered for the pilgrims to choose ranging from types of hotels during the pilgrimage to various leisure destinations afterwards. Some even accompanied by public figures.

Interesting offers as seen on Hajj and Umra agency ads depict that somehow the extras should be concerned rather than the core activities of Hajj and Umra. And somehow by this, intention is endangered by impurities of expectation; , that rather than be motivated by intention to fulfill our obligation, we perform the Hajj and Umra with an expectation of the promised excitements during and after the journey. We further insecure ourselves with possibility of disappointment from any chances of the unexpecteds thus distracting ourselves from the important aspect of the journey.

To buy product solely by the advertisment means the ads had captured your attention through any possible way till you finally purchase the product. As for Hajj and Umra, if you buy a certain agency’s service because of their ad, suggests that u’re buying because their offers had somehow attracted you. But what’s been prominently offered are the extras, the gimmick. As mentioned above, Wouldn’t it be possible then that someone perform the Hajj and Umra with the expectation of going somewhere else after that? Or that they would be disappointed as their Singer Idol unable to go with them? At this case the duty of pilgrimage as an obligation has been distracted by the concern of expecting the extras. and suggested that the extras are at the same level of interest of The Hajj and Umra itself, or even higher.

In addition, most Hajj and Umra pilgrimage are ‘once in a lifetime’ expenses and ‘first time experience’ . People may not be sure what to expect and how to spend wisely. Thus making them vulnurable to fall into self-suggesting criteria of what should be concerned in spending if they base it only by what’s offered by the ads.

This is may be due to the emergence of new agencies that’s been struggling with the prominent agencies. The prominents gained their trusts as ‘a household name of pilgrimage agency’ as a result of their consistency and long existence in the industry, thus making it believable that they are reliable, trustworthy, and save in handling the pilgrims’ needs. As compared to the newbies that already face fierce competitiveness at their early stage of initiation in such a short time. hence, in order to survive, they innovate; diversifying the product by adding extras that creates interest which is stemed from the tendencies of liking in nowadays culture; being with the populars, doing popular activities, and/or coming to popular destinations. I may not be surprised if one day, an agency will offer Culinary Adventure during the pilgrimage as the Culinary shows/news are getting popular on TVs.

Reliability, trustworthiness and safety should be the reasons to choose a certain agency. And to choose a certain agency is about entrusting their personnels to take care of your irrelevant (but important) must-do’s that may take up much of your attention to instead just focusing yourself on the Hajj and Umra, such as immigration process, accomodation, daily meals, transportation, preparing you physically and spiritually and so on. And Hajj and Umra agency should merely focus their services on servicing rather than promoting diversified products in such a way that may mislead their pilgrims. As for other vacational activities afterthat or any specific requests should remain on the costumer’s initiative. Thus then the agency will act as regular travel agency.

What kind of advertisment should an agency put to attract pilgrims to use their service? I guess, we should start from educating, building trust, and consistently provide good service. by not misleading nor putting forth empty promises. The promotional point should lay on the overall experience and an agency should focus on keeping the records good. Let the pilgrims promote the agency. and advertisment should receive secondary focus just to acknowledge that the agency does exist. Thus hopefully noone will mislead or be misled.
and at the end of the day…
…May all of us get to do the pilgrimage as how Allah intended us to do it… and purified our intentions

The Shower

On 12th of August I decided to join my ex-classmates of Unpad HI 2003 to witness a Meteor Shower. It’s the Perseid Meteor Shower they said. Don’t know what Perseid really means tho. It started with a long journey from Depok to Bandung and Bandung to Lembang, and additional walks along the local settlements before we finally reached the camping site.

We set 3 camps, which neither of which is fully occupied as all of us were out watching the stars. We lay ourselves on the ground and watch the constellations moving westward as the night coming forth. It was not as dark as I expected, a nice city lights of Bandung shone the night a bit. It wasn’t that bright it would have blocked our view on the sky.

the first meteor entered, not all of us saw it, it was a flash, not so bright, it was only a short line of white narrow light in the sky. then afterwards, more and more meteors entered earth. Mostly small. Few are magnificent. some of the few are even more magnificent. I got to see for the first time in my life a very long red-dust tailed meteor crossing the sky from North sky all the way to the South on naked eye. WOW. and few other long tailed meteors. They were far more exciting than watching the fireworks.

As the night coming forth It was about ‘valid’ or "not valid". More meteors kept coming and we’ve kinda lost the excitements. So, the rule came to: do not comment on small meteors and it is not valid if you only see it yourself. According to the news the peak hours would be after 2 am. so most of us didn’t sleep until then. We expected to see a RAIN of METEOR, but apperently a meteor shower means a rapid occurrence of meteor entering earth’s surface. so according to us the rain hadn’t actually happened as we didn’t see any Rain of meteor, but we had actually experienced it, well, not to those who decided to sleep after only few occurrence. not me. I overslept after 2. and woke up at three, but apparently, the chilling cold wind was getting cooler and i decided to go in. some of us stayed up till morning and said the rain never happened but the occurrence was very rapid after 4, it was once every minute he said, and some are the good ones. However I wasn’t really disappointied as i already witnessed the good one before and I Thank God for that.

Jadi, Apa yang Kamu Pikirkan?

TENTANG KERELIGIUSAN SINETRON RELIGIUS

Apa kategori sinetron ‘religius’ sebenarnya?

universe is at any variety of zoom level, each is exciting

Yaiks, a city full of human and man-manufactureds over a square kilometer of soil. Jakarta
Welcome to the city with a population half of the neighboring mothered country. running a province may be as tough as running a country here.

Phw…
not anybody can re-embrace memory of earth without including the world, can you?
though the world is a bit unseen from human eye thousands of kilometer above, earth is remain a planet part of the constellation. Uniquely, world is only at a certain zoom level of the earth, but earth is at any part of human zoom level –maybe not if it’s seen from other galaxy, ‘cos it’ll be only a dot.

try to zoom your 5 senses 100 times bigger (means: make yourself 100 times smaller) , I’m 170cm, so I’d be 1,7 cm. how would you see a city? what would we possibly hear? how would a surface feel like? how would the air smell like? what does a piece of dirt means?
We are at the zoom level where the earth is way too big to endeavor over, in, and out in a single night, but we had some how affected its surface; the global warming, the polluted oceans, the depleting water, acid rains, polluted air.

what part actually human had played their role in the situation. but do we judge human as a whole? or should it be: which part of the situation have I, you, she, or he contributed ?
there’s a concept of a good deed where it’s reward last forever, is there any such crime which its punishment lasts forever? if it affects the earth, it would affect the world now and later. will the crime last forever till the world ends? or it lasts further until the earth finally comes to its end. or will it be: the world ends together as the earth ends thus the crime also ends. none of us knew about it.

affects is a causative, but a cause is out of our control, it’s imaginatively foreseen as the result of a cumulative learned ‘before and after’ which if it’s experienced repetitively then it becomes a cause. ei, but no single human had repetitively experienced a global warming or an ice melting, thus nobody could never say that it is caused by something. But the earth ,said by the scientists, experienced it last time, but it may not be of similar preceding events. should we build a controlled fast-forwarded reality-based earth with it’s convicted causes and see whether it is as it is convicted?

or is it just a one time crime with one time punishment without putting result as an evidence to be fair?

in our zoom level, and age speed, world is too short to call something a cause, when it is about the earth, thus mostly we’re judged only by our deeds that contribute to the preceding event based on imagery foreseen reasons. earth never say something , thus we never know what our preceding that had caused the afterwards of the earth. human only know what they did. never thought of what they had caused other than what they can experience.

God , forgive us of wrong-doings we’ve done, of what it is that we can know, and what we had never known. With You All Knowldge resides. May we all be under Your Guidance. Amin.

Looking at the Law of supply and demand.

What had come about two years back

We recently been exposed to the law of supply and demand in Intro to Econ… It’s an interesting subject, indeed. Some people in the class are still confused of how a price could rise and how could a demand fall when the price is high and how could a supply rise when the price
is high. It’s a theory of a human, it is not the ultimate law. It’s a study of how a person look at the tendencies in the society of consumer and producer. but what kind of society does the theorists study when they figure out this theory.

Trying to understand this situation, I look back at how people expect things to happen in this
world. there is something called morally right and logically right. The morally right is triggered whenever you feel something is wrong, logically right is tiggered whenever you know something is not explainable by your thinking patterns.

Calling the relation of supply and demand as a LAW makes it morally right and logically right.
Everything that happens in the mechanism, including the producer’s n consumer’s greediness, is right.

How could a supply fall when the price is low? Producers expect higher
revenue in the future. They prefer to pile stocks and wait till the
price is ‘normal’, only then they distrubute. How come there will be a shortage of good when the government set up a ceiling price? Some producers prefer not to produce the good as it bring less profit to the company.

Why is the demand of goods relatively higher when the price is low? More consumers want to be more satisfied by consuming more goods. How could a demand falls when the price is high. Consumers (unconsciusly) realize that they dont really need the good. How could a scarcity have an effect to a higher price? Producer wants to sustain the amount of revenue from the available resource.

RM100X100units=RM200X50units

People who don’t understand these reasons may be a morally right person because they believe these shouldn’t be the core reasons of how things happen in the mechanism. People who understand these reasons as logically right might get it as normal reasons (without thinking
wheteher it is right or wrong) and will continue to believe so and apply it to their life and descending it to their family and friends. But if these people try to seat back and think back they should have realized that their logic derives from something that is not logic.

Greed is a feeling, yes, it something that all people might feel (which could make it as a logic) but people don’t think to get such feeling. there’s no reason why people greed. I’m not saying that studying this subject is useless. but it would be dangerous if we force to apply this theory to predict what will happen in the future economy. It will only create a speculation, and look at how many people had suffered because people in the economy swayed and believe and act purely based on the speculation created by such theory.

NISAN_Shift -the way you think about-the future

NISAN= Headstone, tomb (in Indonesian language)

well, life is indeed a bout a balance, no matter what you do, in any part of life you live in. not too much, not too few, not exaggerating, not minimizing, not to force, not to let, not too fast, not too slow. Proper, descent, sufficient, fix.

Knowing death as a final end of the world for any human, and knowing the real life begins afterwards should at least open our conscience that the world is a playground. it is a place where you play with your feelings, minds, vision, hearings, all your senses in line with what you are required to become. in what state of mind you should level yourself in, in what state of heart you have to put your feelings in, in what state of heed you put your vision on, and in what state of volume you let your hearing hears. a game of faith so to say. as what you believe states truly who you are.

in a beginner level of the game, ones may face similar kinds of hurdles over and over again, without knowing which of the hurdles does he/she failed or succeed. The game may have re-started as we may have forgotten our first lessons. to build our faith to the next level, we shouldn’t let the basics failed. on the other hand, to manage it, we surely need to know what the overview of the level we’re in, the next level we’re going to ascend, and fundamentally knows what our strengths and weaknesses are. in a war, it’s probably similar to knowing who your men are, how many armors you have, and how difficult the zone is.

Apart from that, we should define who’s our friends and foes, who’s the real foes among our friends and who’s our friends amongst whoever we usually think our foes. mind riddling isn’t it?
As the armor, we may look inside ourselves. do we have courage, how much courage have we had? Do we have the knowledge, and how much knowledge have we known? do we have the tools to accelerate the transfer of courage and knowledge? Are we ready to join the team in the effort?

Have you healed your broken heart, have you sealed the cleaner heart, have you restore your heart to the fullest, have you forgiven the past have your forgotten your lasts, have you encouraged your heart to be ready for what the future may take you to.
Life is not that merely a battlefield where you put yourself into death. SomeOne is taking care of that. And none of us surely wants it to come by itself without a fight. Therefore, what you should have is the ability to analyze situations and a mind set to keep yourself survive it.
In what stage are we in? Which of the sections will that put us in?
if NISAN is this life’s future, what life have we done to get the afterwards?

Days when the cities were torn apart

Last night I was browsing through NASA websites just to escape from daily routine of TVs and SimCity. there was this picture about Toba Caldera that was one of the most powerful explosive as it erupted during prehistoric times million years ago and affected climate throughout the world. The Toba lake that we see today is the result of an eruption that has form a basin-like structure filled with water, surrounding what we called today the Samosir island. An island on top of mountains.

Anyway, It reminded me of the Krakatoa’s eruption that was one of the most powerful volcano.
(The most powerful in Indonesian history was the tambora which had an exploding power four times the 1883 Krakatoa and caused the world’s ‘year without summer’ on 1816). Some of its eruptions produced tremendous effect on our earth. The 1883 eruption was one of the loudest ever heard in human history. It surged earth’s temperature by 3 deg.C, lower than it should be. It separates the island of Sumatera from Java. Killing civilizations underneath its greatness.
(many other stories about this at Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krakatoa.)

This flashed me to one of the sura in Koran (which i read just hours before) (you probably want to check it yourself. Al-a’raf) It’s about God destroyed civilization at noon, at night, or at afternoon when people sleeps (this is not a direct quotation from The Holy Koran). this reminds me of The 2004 tsunami that occurred on Sunday 26th Dec. which is the day when we usually sleep at (’till) noon. Sundays, Fridays, Saturdays, Holidays, School break, National days and so on. Well, basically, it’s any day that people are usually off from their daily activity.
so i get an idea that some of the deadliest natural disasters might have occurred during people’s ‘off day’…

Only on the next day (today) I got a chance to answer this curiosity. I searched the pages related to massive natural disaster. On the other window i opened a calender converter where i can just key in a date and get to know the day. Some of the dates answer my quest. you might want to check this yourself as well.
> the Krakatoa eruptions on 1883 , started on Aug 26th.
> Mt St.Helens May 18th 1980
> Bhola Cyclone (Pakistan) November 13th 1970 –> killed 500.000++
> Shanxi Earthquake January 23rd 1556 –> killed 830.000++ (You need to open Chinese lunar calendar converter to figure what occasion happened around this date)
> Lisbon EarthQuake November 1st 1755 destroyed 85% of buildings in the city
So far only those above fit my quest. i may need to search more and find more connections.

Cruising the cities’ streets

I’m back in Indonesia now. It’s been a month and few days I step back my foot on this land. Quiet interesting as I walk around the city streets I see many faces of the inhabitants. I sense the habituals.

The crowdedness of living in a country of 220 millions people struck my eyes open of what makes this country a bit hard to live in. People with inadequateness(es) <– if such word exist- refer themselves to many choices of habits they can (may not be) live(d) in.

Indonesian TV channels as the main member of the family show arrays of promises, happiness and tragedy suspended by exaggerating voices and scores. They present themselves like how TV present itself. They say what the TV says, they talk about what the TV talks, they think like how TV thinks. One difference: they watch while the TV actually produces.

TV is the time-killer, and it is a must-have item in every house holds. No matter how bad their house is, a TV, no matter how expensive it is, will somehow get an honour to be afforded. On my way driving to Banda Aceh from Lhokseumawe, I passed village houses. -This is quiet a common view in Aceh- I noticed some satellite dishes mushrooming on top of zinc roofs and on the front yards. it may be understandable to put a world vision on a coffee shops / kede kopi / as part of customer service, but spending hundred of thousands for personal entertainment? It’s their right, it’s our right, it’s their money, not my money. But why?

Time-killing is the habit that has evolved into habit and becomes a need. Of the 24 hours there should be an off time, a spare time. not bcoz of exhaustion, not becoz we have other things to do, not becoz we have other resposibility to attend. Sometimes it’s just becoz we want a break. this once become a problem in this part of the world as we prefer to sit on a couch and watch TV rather than do somethingelse.

I’m now in Surabaya, the city i had never been into, but often represented as the tougher part of Java. It looks not so like it though. The javanese accents that still attached to most people here have overshadowed the image of the Eastern Javanese people who are often portrayed as a loud, rough and cruel. it has so far been a pleasure meeting the people here. Comparing to the malays in malaysia and aceh, the bataks of north sumatera, the javanese is a softly-speaking and appologetic BUT, highly potential to retaliate. they speak with their heart, not speaking out their heart. their feelings are sensitive, not sensing with their feelings. the norm is the regulation, they agree, everyoneelse must agree. stubborn? not if you are the regulation.

The Javanese who lived in Sumatera and absorb the Sumaterans way of speaking speaks heavier than when it is spoken by the sumaterans?. It hurts you more when a javanese ’shoot’ you. Does the Sumateran speak heartlessly or does the Javanese put too much heart on their words? (At this part of the world, the word ‘heart’ contains kindness, but what i mean here is more of an emotion, which may be of a good heart or a sick heart).

The country of 220 million people left only few spots to cultivate, or at least that’s how we view job opportunities here. it is about being an employee, part of big companies than being a business partner of the big companies.

BUT, some youths have begun to shift this laziness paradigm and shift it to entrepreneurship. Lots of new stores, lots of new companies, lots of new business made by the youths these days. not on owner-worker base, but on mutual partnership base. More young millionaires take up the chance and lead the countries’ productivity. Cooperating with the peer and the young and the old. In Bandung, Surabaya, Medan, and Aceh, I see this country’s hope to revive.

You may have lost what you may have had

As you know that eventually nothing is ours, I wonder what are ours?

Recently this word often comes up to mind and reinforce itself to anything that i see and feel. It somehow evolves itself as the true realm of -what we say as- our possession. It’s the word "MANAGE". How broad does this word can be applied to the so called possessions? it may be as wide as the categories of what you name as your possession. It may be materials that you acquired, your job, your friends, your relationship, people around you, your knowledge, your ideas, even your schools, your teacher, your country, your state, your town, your neighborhood, your house, your body, your feelings, any words that you used to begin with "my" .

Managing can be about maintaining, being responsible of, taking care of, protecting, securing, sustaining, you name it. What do you call as yours? it may be all the things on which you apply these words. So what was yours that is not yours? You should ask yourself what have you left forgotten and unattended. But knowing that nothing is eventually yours, you should not be down if they left you. it’s part of managing -what you call and may have left forgotten as your- reality

working in the crative fields makes us vulnurable of pride. this is what i noticed so far during my internship, observing my own tendency of being proud of what i made anytime the boss try to give credit.

I never realized ’bout this tendency until one of the coleague criticize my design -apparently am not a person who can easily accept criticisms, hehe- i try to always be reserved for compliments, but always, deep inside, human nature strikes. It’s like an overexaggerrated happiness mixed with superiority and greatness. but somehow it’s like super sweet sugar that corrodes your teeth when it’s too much. you like it, but you know it’s not good. The weird part is that whenever you hear good things about your work, you feel good about yourself (it’s not a relieve that you feel for accomplishing your work well, but sometimes we take it as a compliment), but whenever it is being criticized, you always get hurt. The same thing applies to your belongings: your house, your car, your shirt, your family members etc.

when we attribute anything outside our body as part of ourselves, when it gets hurt, our heart gets hurt too. it then reminds me of what we ‘really’ do own in this world… nothing. all things that we initially attribute ourselves with, eventually will never be ours. not even our body.
what do we proud ourselves with? what do we get hurt for?

The Noble Man from Ireland

On the way to Medan from Kuala Lumpur LCCT I met a foreigner named Jarlaith Gallagher who was on his way to be a volunteer worker in Aceh as part of Hope International’s tsunami relief effort. At first i thought that he was a tourist, and it’s quiet seldom to see foreigner coming to Medan these days.Yet, I noticed him sitting infront of T7 gate which is the departure gate for Air Asia Flight to Medan that night. He could be going to some other tourist places such as Bangkok or Bali. But When the PA voice ask us to be prepared for departure, he stood up and asked me whether it was the flight to Medan - (he failed to pronounce it correctly actually. hehehe, nevermind, i failed to pronouce his name too, i thought it was Charllotte) . And as i thought, that was his first time coming to Medan. Later on i knew that it was actually his fisrt time coming to this part of the world.

We were chatting quiet lots of topic on the way walking to, and on the plane as well. It was a pleasure to talk to him that time, as that was suppose to be my Journey of Reflection but turned out to be a journey of enrichment. That day was the exact same day I first came to KL for study.
He is working in one of Irish biggest bank, AIB, as a property advisor. It was a big-pay job back there i guess. You know…bank. He was actually sacrificing 6 months of his job to be a volunteer. And he said that it was not an easy effort to propose the company to let him out for 6 months and come back. Interestingly, his motivation of becoming a volunteer and risking his job is to help others who are in need. I can say here that he is truly a noble man. Well, some of us might think twice or thrice to sacrifice our job, leaving things behind and paying our own expenses just to help people in other part of the world that we’ve never been in to, or are hardly recognized. The fact that hundreds of thousands of people died and more hundred of thousands lived unsheltered reminded him of what happened to his family back a century ago. He told me that Ireland was once lost thousands of its people because food supply was cut by the British. People died of starvation. I never knew that this kind of thing could’ve happened in Europe.

It was his empathy that lead him to help the people in Aceh. He saw it as an opportunity to recover his nation’s misery back a century ago. He would’ve helped them if he could, but since he hadn’t lived that time he did it this time. This is a good example for us especially in Asia who are supposedly living in a region of ‘Gotong Royong’, but lately we are kind of living individually side-by-side. May this spirit stays forever with him…..with us.

Journey of Reflection

It’s been a month of holiday and my visa has not been released yet. It’s a poor thing for me to waste 30 days of doing almost nothing. Luckyly i went for the 3 days seminar in Kuantan which could be considered as holiday.

I’ve been waiting and checking the International office almost everyday. and it’s either a no or an empty promise. It’s very hard to be in a ‘go-back-home’ and ‘can’t-do-anything’ mode at the same time. Not that i don’t want to work, but if i took a job, i know that i won’t be going back home coz my passport could be done anytime and I won’t want to go home because i’ll enjoy the work more (knowing that i won’t do anything back home also). So i decided not to trouble myself further. I just stay at home and wait.

In the mean time, I’ve been committed to myself to go back two days after i receive my passport, so that i have enough time to clean up the mess in the house and plan the route to go back (the cheapest way). Only two days back, monday 19th June, i was told that i might be getting my passport today (21st) in the evening. Then I realized that if i get my passport today, i’ll be going back on Friday 23 June 2006 which is the same exact date when my first time coming here to study. And more things happen that day which become my turning point in life. A day which is ’specially’ designed by the Most-Authority to keep reminding me that I’m not coming here for fun. It was a day after a five days waiting (i was supposed to come here for the orientation day on 18 June, but late visa arrangement allowed me only to go after 23 June). It was the day when i was in the most dilemma. It was the day that makes my cry for unexpected reason. It was a day when on the way to get a permition from my grandfather in the Hospital ended-up seeing him for the last time of my life. Yet, I could not follow the rest of the family to his burial because the flight has been waiting for me to take off. Alone. Coming to this country with knowing no one. I’ve learned to be tough.

Since then, If I started loosing my focus on study, I will always reflect on the day i came here. It helps. But sometimes I was overwhelmed by excitements of going out, wasting money and neglecting the prayers, and in return, things start happening to me. I start forgetting and loosing my stuff, spending for nothing and so on. There was this time when I lost 5 things in five days in a row (luckyly some of them came back). few days after, the great tsunami in Aceh happened and all my family was there at that time. it added more points for reflection as i was scared too the most.

A day before my birthday last year an earthquake happen in North Sumatera. I could feel the tremor in Ridzuan and was panicking coz i couldn’t get to my family as the phone line was disrupted for few hours. luckyly all my family were in a vacation in Yogyakarta.
Hopefullly these signs are just enough to keep reminding me of the purpose of living in the world and not ending up in misery of my own faults. In a way, I mensyukuri that I was still reminded.
I’m going down to check my passport now, and If I can get it today probably it is true that this journey is designated to be my journey of reflection. Even if i can’t get it, I’m still glad that I can write this ‘co-insidence’ and be reminded forever.

Words Connects The Worlds

Recently i’ve been interested in the meaning of words and what ’s their translation in other languages. it’s not a research, but only for ‘just want to know’ purpose.
Starting with finding the meaning of my name. Last week i went to Kinokuniya bookstore in KLCC and i found a book on sanskrit language. My first name derived from sanskrit language ‘dvi’ which means ‘two’ in english. this name was given coz i m the second child.
‘two’ means ‘dua’ in malay/indonesian ‘loro’ in javanese ‘er’ in chinese ‘istnani’ in arabs ‘ni’ in japs. if i were to see the connection between the different translation, i would have no idea how to connect them. But if i were to ‘listen the similarity between them, they would certainly make a connection to each other.

If you slow down the pronunciation of ‘DVI’ you would hear the sound ‘u’ before you pronounce ‘vi’, makes it sound like ‘DU VI’. in some areas the letter V is not well-articulated as it is an absorbed letter, it sounds more like W (we) rather than V (victory), thus makes it sound like ‘DU WI’ which later formed my first name DWI.

The word turns to DUA (DU WA) in malay/indo language which i have no idea when and why the sound ‘I’ turns to ‘A’. or is it the same as the tendency of Javanese to change the sound A to O (for example: wibawa becoming wibowo)? In English they’ve probably shorten the word and pronounce only the first sylable DU. The pronunciation is almost the same as TWO

There is a similarity between the japs and arabs. Both have the sound ‘NI’ .if i were to make a logical explanation, i would simply say that the word ‘NI’ is the contraction (short-form) of the word Istsnani. when and where both people met and introduced the concept of countings or whether both language actually connected to each other, i have no idea. God Knows

However i will found out about it soon or later.
Btw, i’ve visited this cool website by National Geographic Channel which is a project that seeks to find where the first human being actually was by studying the genes of humans all over the world. If you want to know where the first ‘adam’ was sent down click to this link:
https://www3.nationalgeographic.com/genographic/

it is cool to know that my greatx10 grandfather was a cousin of your greatX10 grandfather and you could be of a totally different race. Probably your greatX10 grandfather was a well known person of the human history and married to your greatX10 grand mother who was the descendant of a Royal Family of the most influential kindom in the world at that time, but their genes were not strong enough to ’survive’ along the time which just make you an ordinary person who work 24 hour around the clock just to serve your boss.

ANYWAY…In relation to the topic above, It is possible to imagine that the transformation of the words was due to inconsistence use of a word as a description of a concept which caused by many factors such as :occupation, innovation, learning process, time, including intercultural marriage.
Probably your greatX10 grandparents were so chauvinistic (but so in love with each other) and try to taught your greatX9 grand father how to count from 1 to 10, and ended up using your greatX10 grandmother language for the odd numbers and your greatX10 grandfather for the even numbers.

(However, it showed that your greatX10 grandfather was a gentleman. it’s always Lady’s First.)

Talking ’bout Creativity

CREATIVITY…
Assume your self as the most creative person in the world…what would you be?
A fashion designer? An artist? An interior designer? A graphic designer? Novelist? A culinarist?
…Where you can create something based on our own creativity… but what is creativity?
It sounds like creativity is closely related to making something. .. create-ivity… is to create…
but sometimes our mind had been set to perceive creativity as something that is created as a physical object–in other word, tangible= some thing you can sense using your 5 sensory. Some one who is creative is some one who can make tangible objects which can pleaze our 5 sensory… nice to see, nice to taste, nice to be touched, nice to be heard, or nice smell. But mostly, the criterion of a cretivity is to make some thing which is nice to be seen. It should firstly pleaze our eyes…the beauty.

But what comes in your mind if I say everyone is creative?
Yes we all are creative. We just sometimes be unfair with ourselves by underestimating our own creativity by defining creativity as those mentioned above. You picturize yourself as someone who’s not creative. But wait, you’ve been living in this world for this while and still survive but you say your self as an uncreative person?

Creativity is a survival technique. It is an action to fulfill the Rules or to live within the rules. Freedom doesn’t make you creative. Living according to the rules and succeed in finding the way to live not to break the rule is creative… coz it makes you think.
Freedom is closely related to self fulfillment… fulfill your ego, fulfill your wants, fulfill your desires. it doesn’t make you THINK!

A creative person is a person who think! As long as you still think before you do something… you are creative! it doesn’t have to come out with any tangible objects. it could be something that you can feel or think. The basic of creativity is to be felt or to be thought in the process of doing it and in the process of consuming it.

A beautiful paintings should ignites your feeling. You would know when something is beautiful or when something is not beautiful. Even a beauty must fulfill the rules of beauty, which are mostly related to nature’s balance (the balance of anything in the universe). A good composition of anyting you do must in some ways fullfill any nature’s flow (it’s not just about forest, trees, animals, mountains, or seas… but go deep with how they live, what they do, their physical details, etc)

What would you feel if you have to read from down to up. it some how feels heavy. Compare to your self if you were asked to walk the stairs to the upstairs… it feels heavy too… why? because we follow the nature’s gravity. it is hard to go up coz gravity pulls you.

what’s your media mix — ext. of my recent bulletin board

Have we ever encounter a problem of getting sick of whatever shown in TV? when you start to be able to predict the content of the TV and the content of the programs had stereotyped you in such a way that makes you are trying to get away from TV as it does not represent yourself wholefully. this is what happened in some media in Indonesia where most of TV stations followed certain trends of kinds of programs to be aired in the TV. if one TV stations had succesfully aired a reality program or religious sinetron (short form of cinema electronic) which attract the favour of more audience towards the TV, then the rest of the TV stations would do the same thing. How many of them do really care about the message crossovered to the audience? how they had shape the nation? most of us blame TV stations as the cause of moral degradation of the young society. But how many of us blame ourselves for not being able to control ourselves about what we see. we believe that whatever shown in TV is not forbidden, as the government not saying or enacting anything to the TV station. So, most of us who are addicted to watch TV or cinema are allowing ourselves to be exposed of things unnecessaryly.

Our expectation towards the government had overruled the fact that the government consists of human who are not perfect, who are not the real leader of human beings. our ideal definition of a government is the ones who should govern, order, rule, and manage our daily lives. but a condition of ruled and being ruled is a two way process. like a communication process, there should be a good communicator, good listener, and right frame of time for the messages to accross correctly. We are being ideal towards the expectations but being demanding in real life situation. Government suppose to be able to handle any problems in society as fast as possible but not letting them control you as part of the society, as part of the problem. it is an external attribution when it comes to problem. (hehe, social psychology) the problem is with the government or in other people, i’m fine with myself. But the existence of government had pampered us. We are the passenger, not the driver. We are consumers not the producers. We are the honorable guests, not the host. We are first class airline passenger, government is the steward/ess. We are the media consumers, media is the government. i’m just trying to picture how passive we are towards authorities’ governement, and how active we are to demand the authorities, and how then we lost the drive to govern ourselves.

Rather than just merely a message conveyors, TV had become a trusted companion in our daily life. which then makes TV as the source of truth. whatever shown in TV is whatever happens in reality. How many of us now believe that all movies are based on true story, or how many of us had opened chances for movies to be applicable in real life, or how many of us would consider a movie as the based of how we look at the world? and how less of us realize that movie is merely a source of amusement. Do we need amusement all day all week all year. yes we do. but how many of us find that similar amusement could also be acquired from people around us who we had abandoned as we spent most of our time with electronic companions?

Somewhat urged to repost the earlier posts

First, this is not the first.

This blog contains mostly some writings made few years ago on my other blog with similar titlehead "So as I understand It, How Do You Understand It?" (addin-wibowo.blogs.friendster.com) that was unfortunately unsustained due to server shut down, and blogging service was apparently discontinued after its relaunch. the blog contained some earlier posts from my first blog (spaciousspace.blogspot.com).

Let's re-begin from the earliest posts
