what’s your media mix — ext. of my recent bulletin board

Have we ever encounter a problem of getting sick of whatever shown in TV? when you start to be able to predict the content of the TV and the content of the programs had stereotyped you in such a way that makes you are trying to get away from TV as it does not represent yourself wholefully. this is what happened in some media in Indonesia where most of TV stations followed certain trends of kinds of programs to be aired in the TV. if one TV stations had succesfully aired a reality program or religious sinetron (short form of cinema electronic) which attract the favour of more audience towards the TV, then the rest of the TV stations would do the same thing. How many of them do really care about the message crossovered to the audience? how they had shape the nation? most of us blame TV stations as the cause of moral degradation of the young society. But how many of us blame ourselves for not being able to control ourselves about what we see. we believe that whatever shown in TV is not forbidden, as the government not saying or enacting anything to the TV station. So, most of us who are addicted to watch TV or cinema are allowing ourselves to be exposed of things unnecessaryly.

Our expectation towards the government had overruled the fact that the government consists of human who are not perfect, who are not the real leader of human beings. our ideal definition of a government is the ones who should govern, order, rule, and manage our daily lives. but a condition of ruled and being ruled is a two way process. like a communication process, there should be a good communicator, good listener, and right frame of time for the messages to accross correctly. We are being ideal towards the expectations but being demanding in real life situation. Government suppose to be able to handle any problems in society as fast as possible but not letting them control you as part of the society, as part of the problem. it is an external attribution when it comes to problem. (hehe, social psychology) the problem is with the government or in other people, i’m fine with myself. But the existence of government had pampered us. We are the passenger, not the driver. We are consumers not the producers. We are the honorable guests, not the host. We are first class airline passenger, government is the steward/ess. We are the media consumers, media is the government. i’m just trying to picture how passive we are towards authorities’ governement, and how active we are to demand the authorities, and how then we lost the drive to govern ourselves.

Rather than just merely a message conveyors, TV had become a trusted companion in our daily life. which then makes TV as the source of truth. whatever shown in TV is whatever happens in reality. How many of us now believe that all movies are based on true story, or how many of us had opened chances for movies to be applicable in real life, or how many of us would consider a movie as the based of how we look at the world? and how less of us realize that movie is merely a source of amusement. Do we need amusement all day all week all year. yes we do. but how many of us find that similar amusement could also be acquired from people around us who we had abandoned as we spent most of our time with electronic companions?
